Zugspitze

It was a busy day with 9 1/2 hours travelling including flying from Bergen to Munich then 2 trains from Munich airport to Garmish-Partenkirchen, very beautiful twin towns in Bavaria, Germany.

With clear weather we decided to take a trip up Zugspitze – the highest mountain in Germany. From Garmish-Partenkirchen a cog railway climbs to a few hundred meters below the summit and a cable car ascends the remainder to the summit. Today, due to track work, we had to take a bus from Garmish-Partenkirchen for the first few Km.

The last time we were on the top of Zugspitze was in 2013 when I took the magnificent panoroma looking south, that adorns our family room wall at home.  This time there was a fair amount of cloud to the south but it was completely clear to the north.

The following are just a few of the photos I took today.

On the cable car, I hope no one cracked the door open for ventilation! 🫣

  3. So thrilled with your fotos, lovely to see all that snow stuff and the Zero Temperature
while being nice and warm 21C in my little house, Snow and Cold are now things that no longer fit well with my persona. I was hoping to see a shot of the two of you lying in the snow creating Snow Angels
