Our Airbus A380-800 awaits us at Tullamarine
Love Dubai except for the heat.
A city of contrasts. There are the old parts of Dubai and now huge clean ultra modern parts to the city with no graffiti. Almost everyone speaks excellent english. A wonderful place to spend a few days. Metro is easy to use with everything labeled in Arabic and English.
Holiday Inn Al Barsha Dubai where we stayed
The metro (train) station Al Barsha – 300 meters from our hotel.
Anyone for Monopoly? Mall of The Emirates.
From the Dubai Mall station to the Dubai Mall (largest mall in the world by area) simply take the moving walkways – my guess is that it was over 500 meters all up from station to Mall and a number of moving walkways.
In the Dubai Mall advertising a new office / residential tower.
The huge aquarium in the Dubai Mall. Since we were there 5 years ago they now charge to get close to the tank – but what a huge tank it is.
Another area of the Mall – it is so huge.
Just more of Dubai Mall
The inside waterfall complete with divers.
Olympic size ice rink (partly taken over at the moment)
Ginny asked this driver for directions to the Metro tunnel – we had seen him earlier a few times driving βSheikβ looking men around inside the mall. He told us to jump in and took us to our destination – We are sure many people looked and wondered who we were.
And just a bit of traffic!
Trying to find our way from the Metro to the Gold and Spice markets.
Found it!
Perfect π
Gold market …. just before the tour groups arrive.
Offloading – I have no idea what.
Burj Khalifa on the left – tallest building in the world.
and you can really see its height in the next photo
Next stop – Vienna
