Vienna

The beautiful weather since arriving in Vienna on Friday 4th May has been wonderful.  The days are cool in the morning but sunny and in the low 20C during the afternoon.

Our AirBnB is a lovely apartment on the 4th floor, up 87 steps and is centrally located in walking distance (1.5Km) from the heart of Vienna.

Following are a few images around Vienna.

With our mate Johann

Saint Stephan’s Cathedral

Plenty of horses and carriages to take toursits – at exhorbitant prices according to a local.

St Peter’s Church

Inside St Peter’s Church – amazing.  And we enjoyed an organ recital.

We thought it would be a good idea to see a live performance of some music while in Vienna. Checking on line we found a 5 piece orchestra due to perform later that day.  So we booked low priced seats best available – so we expected to be at the back ‘up in the Gods’ – but after all we were just after the atmosphere. We were duly directed up the stairs and pointed to our seats.

And when we sat down …….. this was the view😯☹️

Fortunately although the ground floor seating was full, upstairs was only about 10% occupied – so once the performance began we moved close to where the above photo was taken. 😁😁

Checking later on line we found about 15% of the upper floor have no sight of the stage.  You can see a seating plan on line …… if you know where to look.

All good character building stuff!!

Our first AirBnB in Vienna. Lovely apartment but on 4th floor up 87 steps.  Great central location 20 minute walk into the main part of Vienna

Amazing who you find hanging around the streets of Vienna.

Delighted to receive travel news from you both – almost like being there, as they say, recalling visits of 20 years earlier, or excited to learn of new sites not even considered a possibility at that time. Continue to have a wonderful time, keep well and safe.
Melbourne still mild, but cold blast and RAIN due soon.
    Love and hugs. Shirley.
