WALES -BRECON BEACON NATIONAL PARK & SNOWDONIA NATIONAL PARK, ENGLAND – PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK

From the Cotswolds we headed to Wales and Brecon Beacon National Park then on to Snowdonia National Park.  From there we went back to England and to the Peak District National Park.  Again we kept mainly to National Parks and small towns and villages, sometimes stumbling across amazing places ……more by good luck than good management.  Following is the past week in a few pictures.

Raglan Castle – a relatively modern castle dates from between the 15th and early 17th-centuries

Taking a trip up to Abergavenny- in south east Wales.

Approaching Newgale (south west Wales).

St David’s Cathedral in St Davids Wales. The present cathedral was begun inf 1181 and completed not long after.

The ruins (approx 100 meters long) of the Bishop’s Palace next to St David’s Cathedral is testimony to excess in a bygone era.

Our campsite at Conifers Camping Farm near Newport Wales. Supurb morning.

Aberaeron Wales – picturesque town on wesr coast – obviously tide is out.😳🙄

West coast of Wales just north of Aberaeron on St Georges Channel.

Typical of the country roads throughout England and Wales. Nowhere to park. Grrrr!!!!!😤😖

Snowdonia National Park – Superb scenery.

Stone fences (not just here) everywhere … mile after mile after mile.

Our campsits high above the town of Dolgellau Snowdonia National Park.

Typical stone houses

Very pretty ….

Beautiful Bakewell and Wye River.

Peaks National Park  – the Wye River at Bakewell.

Bakewell

There are Bakewell Puddings and Balewell Tarts.

Obviously the Bakewell Tart eating a Bakewell Tart.🤪😋

“Hope no one is coming”…. Typical country roads.  Nowhere to park. Scary when you meet a Tractor Harvester head on! …… and we DID!!

St John The Baptist’s Church (The Cathedral of the Peak) in Tideswell (Peak District National Park) was a chapel of Saxon origin and previously existed on the site of today’s church. When we visited they had a display of flowers and paper angels – thousands of paper angels  …. everywhere.

Dolgellau is a town and community in Gwynedd, north-west Wales, lying on the River Wnion. Dolgellau is the ideal base to explore southern Snowdonia’s dramatic scenery. A pretty town.

Getting close to the Lakes Dristict. Still beautiful weather.

Next Stop – The Lakes District.

Thank you dear friends for keeping us all uptodate …. and now I will be able to make an Itinerary for next year! … and especially luv the small Villages – with each one having a story of centuries ago …. especially the Churches and Castles… and make the most of the warmth of the UK (both people you meet plus the weather) cos you will need your jumper when you alight from your return journey …. so, Enjoy!

Has been a delight to be part of your amazing journey – so many interesting, informative and picturesque locations !! Thanks a million – – – –
When going away on a girls’ weekend, left my husband home with TWIN TARTS – reckoned that would keep him occupied. (This was actually a biscuit variety fifteen or so years ago.) Relish the remainder of your trip, stay well.
